AB InBev, one of the world’s largest alcohol producers, has teamed up with one of the world’s largest legal marijuana producers, Tilray Inc., to research potential non-alcoholic, THC and CBD infused drinks.

AB Inbev, known for beers such as Budweiser and Kokanee, will execute the deal through Labatt Breweries, and it will only apply to the Canadian market. Tilray will execute the deal through its Canadian subsidiary High Park.

Both companies will invest up to US$50 million in the endeavor.

“Labatt is committed to staying ahead of emerging consumer trends. As consumers in Canada explore THC and CBD-infused products, our innovative drive is matched only by our commitment to the highest standards of product quality and responsible marketing,” said Labatt Breweries of Canada president Kyle Norrington.

Edible and drinkable THC infused products are currently not legal in Canada, however will be set to be regulated in 2019.
