Cannabis producer Aphria has announced that it is raising $225 million for new and expanded facilities, as well as for global acquisitions and expansion.

$55 million of the funds will go into a new extraction facility in Leamington Ontario that will produce concentrated cannabis products such as oils.

"The Extraction Centre of Excellence will give Aphria a significant competitive advantage in cannabis concentrates, which are expected to be a significant product category," said Aphria CEO Vic Neufeld, in a press statement. "This facility will be the centre of industry-leading R&D and commercial production of next generation cannabis concentrate products."

The company will also spend a combined $30 million to increase capacity at two of its other facilities, spending $20 million on Aphria Diamond, and $10 million on Aphria One.
