With its purchase of pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor Farmacias Magistrales, Aurora Cannabis Inc. says it will now supply medical marijuana to Mexican patients.

Farmacias recently became the first Mexican company to be legally allowed to import THC products into the country. The company also received licenses from Mexico’s Federal Commission for Protection Against Health Risks to manufacture and distribute products with CBD and THC.

Details of the purchase have not been disclosed yet, but Aurora says the deal will be paid for in Aurora Shares based on a valuation using revenue projections for Farmacias.

Aurora is among a number of Canadian cannabis companies looking to get a jump on the Latin American cannabis market. With favorable growing conditions, low costs, and an opening regulatory market, cannabis companies are beginning to see the continent as the next big investment opportunity for their dollars.
