Canopy Growth Corp (NYSE: CGC), the world's largest marijuana stock, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange today. The company, based out of Smith Falls, Ontario, is the first plant-touching company to be listed on the major American stock exchange. It plans to continue trading on the TSX in Toronto under the ticker symbol “WEED”.

Being listed on the NYSE gives Canopy improved liquidity and a clear path for institutional investors on Wall Street to take a position on the company.

“Five years ago, as a small Smiths Falls based start-up in the cannabis sector, we could have never imagined this historic moment,” said Canopy CEO Bruce Linton in a release.
