After opening offices in Sydney and Melbourne, Cannabis Access Clinics has opened Queensland’s first cannabis clinic in the Brisbane suburb of Belmont.

The private clinic will charged patients $300 for a consultation, and that will include an application to the government for cannabis approval which can take up to four weeks.

Because of Australia’s stringent medical cannabis laws, patients will first have to receive a referral from their GP or specialist. Patients are only eligible for medical cannabis if they have exhausted all conventional therapies.

The clinics work with patients who have conditions that many deem to be treatable in some way by medical cannabis, such as, chronic pain (including cancer pain), chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, epilepsy, anxiety, sleep disorders, PTSD, and others.
