As cannabis grips the headlines of around North America and continues to grow in popularity in Europe, Alcohol companies have been re-evaluating their game plans and deciding to enter the market in one way or another. Constellation Brands, the maker of Corona and Modella, purchased a 39 percent stake in Canopy Growth Corp, with the option to go up to 51 percent, while Molson-Coors partnered with Quebec based Hexo to develop a THC beer. Even Heineken has joined with its California subsidiary already selling a THC-infused brew.

But among the chaos, there has been one major player missing. Anheuser-Busch InBev, the largest of them all, has yet to make a move. In fact, earlier in the year, CEO Carlos Brito said that the cannabis space is something they are “trying to learn more about”, but didn't see the need for any sort of game plan.

But despite those claims, the company recently created a “Chief Non-Alcohol Beverages Officer” in an effort to expand its non-alcoholic division. The company hopes that this section of its business will be responsible for 20 percent of its overall sales by 2025, something a drinkable THC beverage could certainly be apart of.

As well, with decreasing beer sales in North America, and shifting preferences among generations, it is unlikely that the giant is not keeping a close eye on the market, as the Globe and Mail reported that it, among Coca-Cola and Diageo PLC, have been in talks with Canadian Cannabis producers.

Anheuser-Busch InBev refused to elaborate on the talks, but for many, it's seems to be just a matter of time.
