The German government has officially cancelled a tender process for cannabis companies to grow with Germany. The tender, which was delayed since March, was halted by a Dusseldorf higher court judge because of petitions from companies that deemed the process unfair. It was claimed that there was not enough time between the first and second phase for companies to submit the necessary documentations.

The tender was to award the country’s first cultivation license to supply it with 6,600 kilograms  of medical marijuana, all grown within the country.

A number of Canadian companies, including Canopy Growth Corp., MedReleaf Corp, and Aphria Inc., were on the short list with their German partners.

According to Pierre Debs, Canopy Growth’s European division head, the tender is suppose to restart soon, but no date is confirmed.
