Through explosive growth since its July IPO, and an unprecedented week of trading, British-Columbian based Tilray surpassed Canopy Growth Corp. to become the world’s most valuable legal cannabis enterprise.

The company headquartered in Nanaimo, BC, has risen over 800% since its IPO at $17 on the NASDAQ in July. This past week however, it rose 29% through Tuesday to give it the final boost, being valued at over US$14 billion compared to Canopy’s just over US$10 Billion.

That valuation put it higher than notable fast food chain Chipotle, as well as a quarter of the S&P 500.

Tilray announced on Tuesday that it was the first cannabis company to export legal marijuana into the US for a clinical trial at the University of California at San Diego.
