An eight year old suffering from epilepsy in Ireland is now completely off all of her prescription medication and solely being treated with cannabis oil.

Ava Twomey suffers from a rare form of epilepsy found in children called Dravet Syndrome. Her mother, Vera Twomey, was able to secure a medical marijuana license for her daughter, and says that her daughter is now “happy and healthy as we can be we move forward better and brighter and looking forward to getting back to school.”

Vera is now an advocate for the treatment, and spoke at the UK’s House of Commons to petition to legalise it.

Stories like Ava’s have continued to spread through the UK to make a stronger case for medical marijuana legalization, and have also been used as examples across the world.
