A new study that has been published in the Medicines journal titled “Effectiveness of Raw, Natural Medical Cannabis Flower for Treating Insomnia Under Naturalistic Conditions,” found that medical cannabis flower can significantly improve perceived insomnia.

Jacob M. Vigil, MD, the lead researcher of the project at the University of New Mexico, analyzed 409 people who completed 1,056 medical cannabis administration sessions that were collected by the patients using the Releaf tracking App.

Dr. Vigil found that those who were using cannabis flower, and particularly strains with higher CBD contents, reported significant improvements in insomnia symptoms with minimal negative side effects.
Sativa strains were more closely linked to negative side effects than indica strains, and vaporizing the cannabis provided less negative effects than a joint.
