A French health Agency has launched a temporary scientific committee to assess how to create a medical cannabis market in France.

The committee will assess the feasibility of creating the market, which medical conditions it should allow, and how should the market be accessed.

The French National Agency for Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) has tasked the committee with evaluating scientific data related to medical marijuana, assessing other countries experiences with it, and considering patient experiences and feedback in foreign markets.

France legalized cannabis-based medications in 2013, but because the medical marijuana market has yet to be developed, no products are legally available.
The committee is expected to provide its first conclusions by the end of 2018.
