A Bill that was first introduced that would advance New York’s medical marijuana program to include pet care, is now pending in the Senate and State Assembly Health Committees.

The bill was first introduced to come up with an alternative to opioids, because in some places vets are not allowed to prescribe them for animals due to fears that the drugs will be abused by their owners or others.

If passed, the bill would make New York the first state to officially legalize medical cannabis for pets.
