In preparation for a medical marijuana program launch this year, Ohio regulators have issued 56 dispensary licenses.

The state board of Pharmacy was charged with approving applications and was allowed by law to approve 60 licenses after It received 376 applications.

Ohio’s medical marijuana program is expected to be launched later this year, but will most likely not meet its original Sept. 8 deadline. Its medical marijuana industry, which will allow oils, edibles and tinctures, and vaping, is expected to be worth upwards of $300 million annually at maturity.
